Jordanian Tour at the Karameh  Trebil Border Crossing to Discuss the Development of Freight Movement and Trade Exchange with Ir

Khaberni -  The Ministry of Transport and the Land Transport Regulatory Commission, represented by the Transport and Trade Facilitation Committee which includes representatives from various government entities and the private sector, and with the participation of a Ministry of Interior delegate and several stakeholders, conducted a field visit to the Jordanian Karameh – Iraqi Trebil border center to examine the operational movement and services provided within the crossing, and to follow up on the readiness of the infrastructure and operational yards to accommodate the increasing growth in freight, trade exchange, and transit between Jordan and Iraq.
Representatives from the Association of Clearing and Transport Companies, the Jordanian Truck Owners Association, the Jordanian Logistics Association, and the Jordanian Nautical Association participated in the visit. The field tour included a system of modern inspection devices, trade exchange yards, and operational lanes, in addition to the new inbound cargo passport building, which houses logistics services under one roof.
The participating bodies discussed the most significant operational challenges and obstacles, alongside debating practical solutions to expedite procedures and enhance the smooth movement of goods and trucks, contributing to increased work efficiency and improved service levels provided to carriers and those dealing with the crossing.
The participants emphasized the importance of continuing to develop the infrastructure and logistics services within the border center, expanding operational yards and support facilities to keep pace with the substantial increase in trade and transport movement between the two countries, alongside enhancing coordination and partnership between government institutions and the private sector, and continuing direct cooperation with the Iraqi side to facilitate procedures and maintain the smoothness of transit movement.
It was also affirmed that the recommendations and observations noted during the visit would be followed up and implemented within a specified timeframe of two weeks, in partnership with the relevant entities, ensuring the enhancement of work efficiency and competitiveness of the crossing and associated logistics services.
