Ginger and its Role in Enhancing Sexual Desire in Women

Khaberni - Researchers indicate that ginger may contribute to enhancing sexual desire in women by affecting the reduction of the feeling of disgust, which may reflect positively on emotional life.
A Chinese study found that women who consume larger amounts of ginger, whether in food, beverages, or dietary supplements, achieve higher levels of sexual desire, arousal, and satisfaction in their emotional relationships, while this effect was not recorded in men.

The study was based on analyzing the sexual lives of more than 2,000 people, alongside measuring the amount of ginger they consume daily.

Ginger is a common ingredient in Chinese cuisine and has traditionally been linked to health and longevity, and is also used to alleviate some symptoms such as nausea and colds.
Ginger contains an active compound known as "6-gingerol," which is responsible for its effect in reducing nausea.

In one of the experiments, researchers observed that couples who consumed ginger supplements daily for a month had sex more frequently compared to those who took a placebo.

Despite these results, the exact scientific reason behind this effect remains unclear, and it has not been determined why its effect might be associated specifically with women rather than men.

Researchers from Hangzhou Medical College in China and New York University Shanghai speculate that ginger may reduce the feeling of disgust, a sensation linked to nausea, which may make women more receptive to sexual experiences.

The study published in the International Journal of Sexual Health suggests that women evolutionarily tend to adopt more cautious and selective attitudes in sexual relationships, which is associated with increased sensitivity to disgust and decreased levels of sexual arousal, a psychological barrier that some interventions like ginger may help alleviate.
