Middle East Invokes the Poetic Legacy of Abdel Monem AlRifai in a Cultural Celebration Reinterpreting His National and PanAr

Khaberni - The Middle East University commemorated the late Jordanian poet Abdel Monem Al-Rifai, on the occasion of his selection by the Arab Organization for Education, Culture and Sciences as the poet for the twelfth session of the Arab Poetry Day for 2026, in a cultural event that evoked his literary and national presence as one of the most prominent poetic voices in the Jordanian and Arab psyche.
The Department of Arabic Language and Literature in the Faculty of Arts and Educational Sciences organized a specialized lecture titled: "Perspectives on the Poetry of Abdel Monem Al-Rifai", presented by Professor Dr. Nidal Al-Shamali from Al-Balqa Applied University / Princess Alia University College, where he discussed pivotal transformations in Al-Rifai's poetic and national experiences, highlighting his relationship with the founding king, King Abdullah I, and the impact of that relationship on shaping his poetic and emotional discourse.
The event also recalled the profound national dimension in Al-Rifai's legacy, as the lyricist of the Royal Jordanian Peace, which was officially adopted as the national anthem of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan since 1946, ensuring that his poetic voice remains present in the Jordanian psyche during national and official occasions, as part of the cultural identity of the modern state.
