Egypt A Message from the Health Ministry to the Citizens Regarding Hanta Virus

Khaberni - The Egyptian Ministry of Health has confirmed that the health situation within the country is completely stable and safe, denying any recorded confirmed cases of the Hanta virus within the country, following circulating news through media and social media platforms regarding cases linked to a tourist ship outside Egypt.

The ministry clarified that it is closely monitoring the epidemic situation through the epidemiological surveillance system, in coordination with relevant national and international bodies, affirming that all current indicators do not call for concern.

It added that the Hanta virus has been scientifically known for years and is primarily associated with rodents and their environments, typically transmitted to humans through exposure to infected rodent secretions. The ministry noted that most types of the virus do not transmit between humans, except for a rare type known as "Andes," which has very limited recorded transmission cases among people who have close and prolonged contact.

The ministry confirmed that the health surveillance system operates around the clock at all ports and airports, in continuous coordination with the World Health Organization, to ensure a swift response to any health developments according to the latest preventive and scientific standards.

The Ministry of Health has invited citizens to verify the accuracy and not to follow unreliable information circulating on social media sites, relying solely on the official data issued by the competent health authorities.

The ministry stressed the continuous monitoring of the global epidemic situation and the implementation of necessary precautionary measures to maintain public health and the safety of citizens.
