Tel Aviv asks Washington to strike Irans energy sector

Khaberni  - Israeli Channel 12 reported that Tel Aviv conveyed a message to Washington that any return to fighting with Iran should include destroying its energy infrastructure.

The channel added that Israel is trying to convince the United States that destroying Iran's energy infrastructure is "the only practical way" to make progress against Tehran.

The channel cited Israeli estimates that the destruction of Iran's energy infrastructure could be carried out within only 24 hours, and that this would push Tehran into negotiations "while it is subdued."

An Israeli official was quoted as responding to the possibility of conducting a broad attack: "If you are not toppling the regime, at the very least leave it crippled."

The Israeli Broadcasting Authority - quoting an Israeli official - reported that Tel Aviv received an update that U.S. President Donald Trump was leaning towards resuming fighting with Iran, and that the United States had made actual preparations to strike Iranian infrastructure, before the plan was eventually canceled.

The official added that Trump’s withdrawal from resuming combat was not only due to pressure from some Gulf countries, but also as a result of pressure from Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff who believed that it was possible to extract concessions from Iran through negotiations.

Israeli Channel 12 mentioned that following an exchange of fire in the Strait of Hormuz region, Israel raised its alert level to the highest degree in anticipation of the possibility of renewed confrontations. Despite ongoing disputes between Tehran and Washington, Tel Aviv is concerned about the possibility of reaching a settlement that does not align with its strategic interests.

Trump Threatens

U.S. President Donald Trump had earlier threatened to bomb and destroy Iran's energy infrastructure unless the Strait of Hormuz was completely open to international navigation.

Trump stated that the United States is ready to strike various Iranian energy stations - starting with the major facilities - if threats to the vital waterway continue.

In response, the Iranians warned the United States that they would bomb all Israeli and American infrastructure and those linked to America in the region if their vital facilities were targeted.
