Official statement from the Ministry of Health regarding poisoning cases in Irbid

Khaberni -   The Director of the Epidemiology Department at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Ayman Al-Muqabali, stated that the ministry's teams have detected 11 suspected poisoning cases among students of a school in the Governorate of Irbid who visited a private hospital up to now for treatment, while one case was admitted to the hospital to monitor their health condition.

Al-Muqabali explained that the epidemiological investigation and rapid response teams of the Ministry of Health, in coordination with the staff of the Public Food and Drug Corporation, began investigating the suspected poisoning cases, pointing out that the corporation took a precautionary measure by closing a restaurant contracted with the school, which supplies its canteens with food suspected of causing the symptoms of colic and near-poisoning cases among students.

He confirmed that the specialized teams took food samples from the school canteens and the restaurant for laboratory examinations, and took laboratory samples to ensure the safety of the workers in the restaurant and school canteens in order to investigate the causes of suspected poisoning cases and to take the necessary measures to maintain the general safety of students.

According to the Public Food and Drug Corporation, trading meats in school canteens is prohibited, with full compliance with the health conditions and regulations governing the operation of school canteens being necessary.
