Jordan and the European Union Sign Financing Agreements Worth 135 Million Euros

Khaberni - Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zeina Toukan witnessed on Thursday the signing of 3 financing agreements with a total value of 135 million euros, within the framework of the comprehensive and strategic partnership between the European Union and Jordan.

The agreements aim to enhance cooperation in areas of human capital development, refugee support, and border security.

The agreements include 30 million euros for human capital development, focusing on inclusive education, vocational and technical education and training, social protection, and democratic participation, especially for women, youth, and people with disabilities.

The agreements also include 80 million euros for the protection and support of refugees, aiming to ensure dignified livelihoods for host communities and Syrian refugees through cash assistance, social services, and skills development, including support for voluntary, dignified, and sustainable return to Syria.

The agreements also encompass 25 million euros for integrated border management and internal security, to enhance Jordan's capabilities in combating transnational crime, cyber threats, and human trafficking, while bolstering human rights and considering gender-responsive border security.

It is noteworthy that the comprehensive and strategic partnership, signed in January 2025, focuses on peace, security, and sustainable development across five areas including human capital development, migration and refugee support, security, economic resilience, and political relations.

The European Union had pledged to provide 3 billion euros to Jordan for the period 2025-2027, including grants, investments, and concessional loans to address common challenges.
