Khaberni - A new photo of an Israeli soldier in a southern village has sparked widespread anger among many Lebanese.
An Israeli soldier appeared in one of the southern Lebanese villages smoking a cigarette, placing another cigarette in the mouth of a statue of "The Virgin Mary," in the third incident of its kind.
Statue of Christ destroyed
This "scene," described as provocative by several Lebanese, followed a series of violations in Christian villages in southern Lebanon, including the destruction of a statue of Christ, as well as the demolition of homes.
Israel had previously announced the appointment of a special ambassador to engage with the Christian world, following the outrage sparked by scenes of an Israeli soldier smashing a statue of Christ that was hanging in the square of the southern town of Ain Ebel.
