Khaberni - An Egyptian wife died after falling from the balcony of the marital apartment on the third floor in the Bulaq Dakrur district of the Giza governorate, in an incident that brought the discussion about domestic violence and its serious repercussions back to the forefront.
Initial investigations indicate that the incident occurred following a verbal altercation between the spouses, which escalated into physical assault by the husband; this led to the wife attempting to leave the apartment through the door, but her husband prevented her from exiting; which drove her to jump from the balcony fleeing her husband’s assault on her, resulting in her death from the serious injuries she sustained.
Security forces received a report of a woman falling from a great height, and a police force moved to the scene supported by an ambulance. Upon examination, it was found that the victim, aged 30, had died from injuries sustained from the fall.
The body was transferred to the hospital morgue at the disposal of the Public Prosecution, which commenced an investigation into the incident, taking the necessary legal measures to thoroughly ascertain the circumstances of the accident.
