250 Million Compensation for iPhone 16 Buyers

Khaberni - Apple has agreed to pay $250 million to settle a class-action lawsuit in the United States accusing it of misleading advertising regarding the artificial intelligence capabilities of iPhone 16 devices.

The origins of the case date back to 2024 when the company promoted a set of "Apple Intelligence" features and revolutionary updates to the voice assistant "Siri", but users were surprised when the phones were launched without these features, leading plaintiffs to accuse the company of harming shareholders and deceiving consumers.

This settlement, which is awaiting final approval by the court, includes users in the United States who purchased iPhone 16 or iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max devices between June 2024 and March 2025.

According to reports, affected customers may receive compensations of up to $95 per device, with an estimated 36 million devices covered. It is not yet clear whether these compensations will include users outside the American market.

For its part, Apple has denied any wrongdoing, and explained in a statement that it chose to settle to focus on innovating products and services rather than continuing legal disputes.

The company pointed out that it has already launched many other artificial intelligence features since 2024, confirming that comprehensive updates to "Siri" will be officially unveiled at the next Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC).

This move comes at a time when Apple is striving hard to catch up with its competitors in the field of generative artificial intelligence such as Google, Meta, and OpenAI.

Tim Cook, the CEO of the company, emphasized that artificial intelligence is not just an additional feature but is an essential and intuitive part of Apple's future devices, which explains the recent partnerships the company has made to enhance its technical capabilities in this heated race.
