Khaberni - Cypriot President Nicos Christodoulides confirmed that the Jordanian-Cypriot-Greek summit was held at a time characterized by numerous geopolitical challenges, expressing his gratitude to the King for hosting its proceedings.
Christodoulides highlighted the significance of the timing of the summit, which coincided with Cyprus holding the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, pointing to his country's role as a link between Europe and the Middle East, and affirming the importance of a comprehensive and strategic partnership between Jordan and the European Union.
President Christodoulides expressed Cyprus's pride in its tripartite partnership with Jordan and Greece, which contributes vitally to enhancing stability and solidifying cooperation to address shared challenges and invest in expanding economic partnerships.
He also expressed Cyprus's solidarity with Jordan in the face of attacks it endured during the recent crisis in the region, emphasizing the necessity of commitment to dialogue to resolve the conflict and build a framework for peace in the region.
In turn, the Greek Prime Minister spoke about the importance of this summit, especially given the regional circumstances, affirming that it sends a clear message of friendship, cooperation, and full commitment to international law.
He noted that the partnership between Jordan, Greece, and Cyprus has yielded tangible results, affirming that there is potential to enhance cooperation in sectors such as energy, investment, transport, defense, tourism, and climate, and appreciating the support that Jordan provided to Greece in tackling wildfires.
The Greek Prime Minister referred to Jordan's pivotal role, under the leadership of the King, in his efforts to achieve peace and stability in the region, emphasizing the importance of the Hashemite custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, and noting Jordan’s efforts to maintain the status quo in the holy city.
Speaking of the partnership between Jordan and the European Union, Prime Minister Mitsotakis confirmed that Greece and Cyprus are always keen to consolidate European cooperation with the Kingdom, starting from the centrality of Jordan's security and prosperity to the security and prosperity of the European Union.
