Khaberni - The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply has issued 1500 violations against establishments for not complying with the provisions of the industry and trade law and related legislation since the beginning of this year.
The ministry stated in a Wednesday release that the Market Monitoring Directorate has dealt with various complaints received from citizens, totaling 650 complaints, through market inspectors deployed in all regions, and necessary measures were taken to address them, reflecting quick response and effective oversight.
The ministry added that the oversight teams conducted 1895 inspection tours covering 30871 visits to commercial establishments in various provinces of the kingdom, with the aim of ensuring their compliance with the applicable instructions and regulations.
In the same context, the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply issued during last April 345 violations, including 284 for not displaying prices and 29 for exceeding the set price, following the implementation of 441 inspection tours covering visits to 7336 commercial establishments, while the directorate dealt with 228 complaints received from citizens and took necessary measures to ensure market stability.
It noted that the Market Monitoring Directorate continues to implement the provisions of the Industry and Trade Law No. 18 of 1998, which includes oversight on the availability of basic food commodities, price declaration and compliance, monitoring stocks at wholesalers, in addition to controlling practices related to concealing goods or refraining from selling them, and monitoring discounts, liquidations, and promotional offers.
