Khaberni - The teams of the Water and Irrigation Ministry/Water Authority, the Internal Audit Directorate, in collaboration with the Public Security Directorate, Gendarmerie Forces, the Royal Administration for Environmental Protection, and Yarmouk Water Company, conducted extensive monitoring and security campaigns in various areas of Irbid Governorate, resulting in the control of two assaults on drinking water sources and networks, and legal actions were taken against the offenders.
In detail, the specialized teams managed to control a 22 cubic meters water tank (shell) used to supply drinking water tankers from an unknown source, after receiving information about an illegal activity threatening water safety.
Accompanied by a security force, the team moved to the location and seized the tank, which was filled with water and equipped with valves. It was completely emptied and destroyed by making side and front holes to prevent its reuse, in addition to confiscating one of the plastic valves.
In another case, an assault on a water line feeding a house was controlled, where it was found that the homeowner tampered with the water meter and removed it, using a pump and a private tank to fill water illegitimately, alongside installing an illegal connection to fill water tankers. The water meter was immediately confiscated, the supply line was disconnected, and the necessary documents were organized according to regulations.
The Ministry of Water and Irrigation confirmed the continuation of its monitoring campaigns in various regions of the kingdom, aiming to protect water sources, ensure fair distribution, and maintain water security, emphasizing that any assault on water networks will be met with strict legal action, and calling on citizens to cooperate and report any non-compliant practices that harm the public good.
