Khaberni - Suleiman Al-Shamari, the Executive Director of Roads at the Greater Amman Municipality, said on Wednesday that the installation of sidewalks and median strips in the area of Al-Tatbiqiyya roundabout will start on Saturday.
Al-Shamari added to "Al-Mamlaka" that the project needs a period ranging from 3 weeks to a month to complete, and to install a traffic light.
He indicated that the cost of the project ranges between 80,000 and 100,000 Jordanian dinars.
He confirmed the full cooperation between the staff of the Greater Amman Municipality and the Traffic Management in the field around the clock to ensure the smooth flow of traffic, pointing out that some traffic congestion in the roundabout area is caused by citizens not giving priority.
The Greater Amman Municipality had started, on April 10, the demolition works of the Applied Science University roundabout, replacing it with a modern traffic light operating on a four-phase system, as part of its efforts to improve traffic safety and handle congestion at the site.
The Municipality confirmed that the demolition works for the reconstruction of the roundabout were carried out according to technical and engineering studies, and under the supervision of specialists, pointing out that the demolition of the column, which is 39 meters high, was completed as planned within the perimeter of the roundabout.
It clarified that no material or human damages were recorded, contrary to what was circulated on some social media pages and websites, assuring the continued work of its staff at the site.
