Khaberni - His Majesty King Abdullah II directed the government, during his visit to Zarqa Governorate on Tuesday, to establish a comprehensive health center to serve Zarqa Governorate and reduce the pressure on health services in the region.
This came during a meeting of the King with notables and representatives of the people of Zarqa Governorate at the Hashemite University, where His Majesty spoke about the symbolic significance of Zarqa as the "City of the Military," highlighting its recognized role in the history of the Jordanian Armed Forces - Arab Army, and how its people embody values of chivalry, sacrifice, and patriotism.
Prime Minister Jafar Hassan indicated during the meeting in the governorate that the government, following the directions of His Majesty the King, is working on implementing projects and programs to serve the province of Zarqa and its residents.
He mentioned that the government's executive program for the next three years includes projects designated for Zarqa estimated to cost about half a billion dinars in various sectors, notably health, education, and public transport; these are the key sectors for serving the citizens.
The Prime Minister confirmed that the government has expanded the heart surgery department in the new Zarqa Hospital and will proceed with His Majesty the King’s directives to build a comprehensive health center on the site of the old Zarqa Hospital, noting that work will soon begin on constructing a new building for Prince Faisal Hospital in Ruseifa at a cost of 9 million dinars.
Speakers from the audience expressed their pride in meeting His Majesty the King and what the visit reflects of His Majesty’s keenness to connect with the citizens, showcasing the top priorities of the governorate in the fields of development, empowering women and youth, enhancing investment, and stressing the need to continue investing in the governorate's attributes to promote development and create job opportunities.
Hassan pointed out that about 500 class rooms will be added to schools in Zarqa over the current and next year, and through the corporate responsibility launched by the government in cooperation with the private sector, 4 model schools with a capacity of a thousand students each will be ready by the next academic year.
Regarding the public transport sector projects in the governorate, he mentioned that the Rapid Bus will be extended to Hashemite University and a new public transport complex capable of accommodating about 1250 buses will be established, noting that studies related to updating the Jordan Hejaz Railway and its potential use for public transport will soon be completed.
Hassan affirmed that the government is addressing urban problems in many municipalities, including Ruseifa Municipality, in addition to enhancing the developmental role of municipalities and initiating environmental, tourist, and industrial projects that contribute to the desired development, similar to the projects that will start in Azraq Municipality.
Meanwhile, Yusuf Hassan Al-Issawi, Head of the Royal Hashemite Court, spoke about implementing many royal initiative projects in the governorate, especially in the sectors of education, youth, health, social development, and municipal affairs, as well as productive and developmental projects.
