4112 settlers stormed AlAqsa Mosque last month

Khaberni - 4112 settlers stormed the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque during the last month, according to a report issued by the Jerusalem governorate.

The governorate monitored systematic Israeli occupation crimes in the governorate during April 2026, stating that the occupation continued its efforts to impose further restrictions on the city and its people, with these crimes led by the ongoing assaults on the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, accompanied by widespread incursions by settlers under the protection of the occupation forces.

This was followed by a continued demolition and bulldozing operations in various neighborhoods of the city, notifying dozens of facilities, a martyr rising beside recording injuries among Palestinians as a result of direct attacks or field repression.

It explained that arbitrary arrest campaigns continued, and decisions were issued for actual imprisonment and house arrest against Jerusalemites, in addition to hundreds of forced displacement decisions from the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and the city of Jerusalem, in addition to advancing and approving new colonial plans aimed at Judaizing the city and changing its demographic and geographic character.

Occupation and settler violations during April

The child Mohammad Murad Rayan (17 years old), from the town of Beit Duqo northwest of Jerusalem, was martyred by bullets from the Israeli occupation forces, who detained his body after they shot him.

Another Palestinian was injured during clashes that erupted in the town, coinciding with an incursion by the occupation forces, which carried out a wide raiding and searching campaign affecting a number of houses.

Crimes and violations in the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque

April 2026 witnessed a qualitative and systematic escalation in Israeli violations against the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, as the occupation forces completely closed the mosque from February 28 until dawn on April 9, 2026, under the pretext of imposing an emergency state, which led to preventing worshippers from entering it and emptying it for a long period.

During April, 4112 settlers incursion was recorded, and another 1216 under the cover of "tourism," in the midst of escalating incitement by the "Temple" groups, which called for intensifying incursions and introducing sacrifices and imposing Talmudic rituals, especially during Israeli holidays.

The Mosque witnessed public and provocative practices, such as prostrating, blowing the horn, dancing, and raising flags, alongside performing public group prayers under tight protection of the occupation forces.

The month also saw repeated attempts to introduce the "Passover sacrifice," the storming of the mosque by the extremist National Security Minister in the occupation government, Itamar Ben Gvir, and expanding the daily incursion hours to six and a half hours.

Rituals were recorded in the vicinity of the Dome of the Rock, seizure of children's toys, and preventing the raising of the call to prayer for Isha on April 20.

At the end of the month, there was an escalation in the use of printed prayer texts and the performance of public rituals within the mosque courtyards, indicating the consecration of a new reality inside Al-Aqsa.

The Jerusalem governorate monitored a total of 49 injuries during April 2026, distributed between live and rubber bullet injuries, cases of severe beating, and tear gas injuries, in addition to injuries resulting from settlers spraying pepper gas.

The injuries were concentrated around the separation barrier, Qalandiya checkpoint, the towns of Al-Ram and Abu Dis, and northwest Jerusalem towns including Beit Duqo and Beit Anan, among which 9 injuries were recorded among workers and young men while trying to cross the barrier or standing near it.

These violations indicate that the extremist right-wing occupation government continues to unleash its forces and settlers to carry out their attacks against Jerusalemites, with legal cover and military protection, in a scene that reflects official complicity and a policy deliberately aiming for impunity.

Settler assaults

The Jerusalem governorate monitored during April 2026 settlers carrying out 35 assaults, including 4 physical harm attacks, in a context of continuous, organized, and multilevel escalation.

The assaults included gunfire, property burning, road closures, chasing shepherds, storming homes and vandalizing them, and assaulting churches, under direct protection of the occupation forces, reflecting a role integration between settler groups and the right-wing extremist government to impose new facts on the ground and undermine the status quo.

Among the most notable assaults, on April 7, settlers burned a tent in a Bedouin gathering near Mikhmas and attempted to steal livestock.

Also notable was an assault on April 11, where a wide attack was carried out on the town of Mikhmas, involving targeting Palestinian vehicles, in a serious group escalation.

On April 29, a settler assaulted a Christian nun in Jerusalem, injuring her, in an incident that reflects targeting even religious symbols.

Arrest cases

The Jerusalem governorate monitored during April 2026 a noticeable escalation in the policies of repression and arrests that the Israeli occupation authorities employ against Jerusalemites, where it documented the arrest of 138 Palestinians, including 9 women and one child, as part of a systematic campaign targeting various areas of occupied Jerusalem.

These arrests were accompanied by widespread incursions into homes and neighborhoods, and field arrests at checkpoints and roads, with excessive use of force, beating, intimidation, and humiliation.

The arrests were distributed across various areas, notably: Qalandiya camp, Al-Ram town, Shu'fat refugee camp, Anata town, Silwan town, Issawiya town, Wadi al-Joz neighborhood, Beit Duqo, Al-Eizariya town, and Bab al-Amud area, besides the vicinity of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, also including a number of ex-detainees, activists, and journalists.

Israeli occupation court decisions against the detainees

Israeli occupation courts continue to issue arbitrary decisions against Jerusalemites, including imposing strict movement restrictions, among them imposing substantial financial fines burdening families, compulsory house arrest, displacement decisions, and travel bans.

They also continued to extend administrative detention arbitrarily without specifying charges, in some cases for long periods, representing a blatant violation of human rights and fundamental principles of legal justice.

Actual imprisonment

The Jerusalem governorate during April 2026 continued to document the oppressive Israeli occupation policies against Palestinian detainees from Jerusalem, recording 20 rulings and decisions, including 13 in administrative detention, as part of an escalation in the use of this arbitrary procedure against defenders, civil employees, minors, and journalists, through repeated renewals and transfers to actual imprisonment without clear charges.

Rulings also included actual imprisonment and financial penalties, showing a clear continuation of policies of repression and legal terrorism directed against Jerusalemites.

House arrest

During April 2026, Israeli occupation authorities continued the policy of compulsory house arrest against Jerusalemites, particularly targeting young people and journalists as an alternative punitive tool to direct detention. The Jerusalem governorate documented two house arrest orders during this month, accompanied by strict conditions, including temporary displacement and banning the use of phones and social media, aiming to restrict their civil and media activities and silence their voices.

Displacement decisions

Israeli occupation authorities continued during April 2026 the policy of compulsory and arbitrary displacement against Jerusalemites, using this measure as a punitive tool targeting defenders in Al-Aqsa Mosque, journalists, activists, ex-detainees, and students, as part of systematic efforts to empty the city of its religious and national symbols.

The governorate documented a total of 95 displacement orders from the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and the old town, noting that the actual number may be higher, under the strict restrictions and threats to displaced individuals of renewing the orders if they make any media statements, in addition to notifying some via text messages on the "WhatsApp" application.

Demolition and bulldozing

The Jerusalem governorate monitored during April 2026 33 demolition and bulldozing operations, distributed as 17 forced self-demolitions where Jerusalemites were compelled to demolish their homes by themselves, and 13 demolitions performed by occupation forces and municipalities, plus 3 bulldozing operations targeting Palestinian lands and properties.

The data indicates that the demolition and bulldozing operations were distributed across several Jerusalem neighborhoods, notably: Silwan (especially Al-Bustan neighborhood and Karm al-Qamar and Ras Al-Amud, and Wadi Hilweh), Issawiya, Jabal Mukaber, Sur Baher, Shu'fat, Hazma, Al-Ram, As-Sawahira, in addition to agricultural lands in northeast Jerusalem.

Demolition and eviction notices
