AlHaj Tawfiq discusses with the Egyptian Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade the enhancement of economic relations

Khaberni - President of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, Senator Khalil Al-Haj Tawfiq, in Cairo, discussed with the Egyptian Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Dr. Mohamed Farid Saleh, ways to enhance economic, investment, and trade cooperation between Jordan and Egypt, and to expand partnership between the business communities in the two brotherly countries.

According to a statement from the Chamber today, Monday, both sides emphasized the importance of building on the distinguished Jordanian-Egyptian relations and enhancing cooperation between the public and private sectors, contributing to the increase in the volume of mutual investments and opening new areas for cooperation in sectors of mutual interest.

Al-Haj Tawfiq emphasized the importance of continuing economic coordination between Jordan and Egypt, stating that the relationship between Jordan and Egypt is more than just trade and commodity exchange numbers, asserting that the Jordan Chamber of Commerce believes that the relationship should be a complementary economic one, given the strengths and expertise of both countries which can be built upon to transition the relationship between the two brotherly countries to economic and logistical unity and integration, including agriculture and services.

Al-Haj Tawfiq pointed out that Jordan possesses a stable and secure investment environment, supported by modern legislation, advanced infrastructure, and a strategic geographical location, qualifying it to be a regional hub for business and logistical services, confirming that the kingdom has maintained its economic and monetary stability despite regional challenges, enhancing the confidence of local, Arab, and foreign investors especially with the presence of an ambitious and realistic vision like the economic modernization vision.

For his part, Minister Mohamed Farid confirmed during the meeting the depth of the historical relations between the two brotherly countries led by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and his brother His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al-Hussein, and how these relations positively reflect on the economic relations between the two countries, expressing his keenness to facilitate the smooth flow of goods between the two countries and also Jordanian exports to the countries neighboring Egypt and his commitment to building strategic partnerships and mutual investments between the two brotherly countries.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Khaled Hanafi, Secretary General of the Union of Arab Chambers and representatives from the relevant Egyptian entities.

According to foreign trade data, the trade volume between Jordan and Egypt during the year 2025 amounted to about 812 million dinars, with Jordanian exports to Egypt amounting to approximately 163.1 million dinars, while the value of Jordanian imports from Egypt was about 649 million dinars.

The most important Jordanian exports to the Egyptian market are in products of the chemical industries and fertilizers, potash, along with products of the food and plastics industries, while the most notable Jordanian imports from Egypt include natural gases, food products, chemicals, fresh oranges, in addition to a number of industrial and consumer products.

The data indicates promising opportunities to enhance trade between the two countries, especially in the fields of fertilizers and chemical products, phosphoric acids from the Jordanian side, along with Egyptian export opportunities in the fields of construction materials, food products, and food industries, reflecting the potential to expand economic and investment partnerships between the private sector in the two brotherly countries.
