Once again, the achievements of Al-Ahliyya Amman University, which surpassed expectations with new academic excellence, lead when it achieved the top ranking in Jordan as the highest-ranked and advanced university in the Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2026 and attained the 132nd position continentally in Asia, advancing fifty-four positions from its result in last year's ranking (2025).
I, like many, admire the management of Al-Ahliyya Amman University for its behavior and proper approach and the wisdom of its decision-makers, as it has shortened distances and surpassed local, global, and Asian barriers with a comprehensive future vision and with realistic programs and smart strategic scientific plans that mimic the vast space in the world of university innovations.
Al-Ahliyya Amman University has previously excelled over itself and others when it achieved first place in Jordan in the Times Arab Ranking 2026 and also registered a remarkable presence in the QS ranking, obtaining third place locally after the University of Jordan and the University of Science and Technology, and the 32nd position in the Arab region.
Beyond important recognized rankings, the management of this national institution has persisted in the field of scientific research and medical inventions, which has increased its development and progress indicators annually.
The university management also encouraged exceptional cases in athletic excellence among its student athletes, supporting and motivating them; its faculties and departments participated in industrial programs aimed at advancing this sector, emulating modern developments in artificial intelligence, and its management did not overlook the humanitarian aspect, forming a large number of partnerships with charitable organizations supporting poor families and providing medical treatments for intractable diseases like cancer, among others, and held comprehensive medical days in remote areas and camps after providing the necessary doctors and medical materials.
The latest achievement by the university was not a fluke nor was it a surprise to us, as we, as observers, journalists, media personnel, and along with a wide segment of those interested in higher education, are accustomed to the prominence and advancement of this academic pride, which not only maintains achievement but also consistently strives to place Jordan at the forefront of international, Middle Eastern, and Arab forums in university qualification fields, with a noticeable expansion in rare and demanded specializations, and its graduates consistently preferred for jobs both inside Jordan and in other Arab Gulf countries due to their efficiency and experience gained during their studies.
It remains to be said that the roadmap for the university, founded by Al-Hourani the father, "may God have mercy on him", has continuously expanded with a qualitative leap and a new launch at the hands of his successor Dr. Maher Al-Hourani, the chairman of the board of directors, and members of the board, thanks to the support of the president and members of the Board of Trustees, and the distinction of the university presidency, deans of its faculties, managers, and heads of departments, and all employees in various functions and locations.
Credit is due to the skilled Al-Hourani for his boldness, enlightened thinking, and sound management in making qualitative leaps that made a significant difference and distinction in the world of higher education in Jordan and Arab countries, and indeed the significant momentum of the students at this university, where the percentage of Arab and foreign students is about 60%, gives this national institution another dimension in the development of the academic university sector.
The royal commendation by bestowing His Majesty King Abdullah II with the Silver Jubilee Medal on the university was nothing but an acknowledgment of its prominent contributions to the development of the educational sector and support for the local community.
