Khaberni - The Israeli Cabinet will convene on Sunday to discuss resuming the war on the Gaza Strip, at a time when a ceasefire agreement, included by the United States and many countries, is in effect.
The ministers of the Cabinet have received an invitation for a session that will discuss the resumption of the war on Gaza, scheduled to be held on Sunday after the Cabinet did not convene on Thursday, according to the Israeli Broadcasting Authority "Kan 11".
An Israeli official considered that "Hamas does not adhere to the agreement and disarmament", pointing out that Tel Aviv is holding talks with mediators on this matter.
The Hebrew newspaper "Yedioth Ahronoth" mentioned that Washington will not give Israel the "green light" to resume full-scale fighting in Gaza, as the military’s engagement in the northern front and Iran makes managing an intensive war in the sector difficult, while settling for limited "surgical operations" (mowing the grass) instead of broad attacks.
This comes at a time when Israel continues its breaches and bombings in Gaza since the fragile ceasefire agreement took effect, as part of its evasion from completing the requirements of the first phase of the agreement, including the humanitarian protocol amidst the catastrophic humanitarian conditions experienced by the residents of the sector.
The second phase of the agreement includes a broader withdrawal of the Israeli army from the Gaza Strip, which continues to occupy more than 50% of its area, and reconstruction, in exchange for the initiation of disarming the factions, which Israel has also not implemented and bypassed with the insistence on disarmament first.
Israel had prevented representatives from the International Stabilization Force under the "Council of Peace" chaired by President Donald Trump from entering Gaza and touring it. An Israeli official familiar with the details attributed this to Tel Aviv's condition of seeing concrete steps for disarming Hamas and handing over the governance to a technocrat government before proceeding forward.
In the meantime, the Hamas movement continues its discussions with the mediators and the High Representative of the "Council of Peace" Nikolay Mladenov in the Egyptian capital Cairo, in order to "establish pathways for full implementation of Trump's peace plan in the Gaza Strip"; according to what the spokesman of the movement Hazem Qassem said.
He pointed out that the meetings also address "ensuring the implementation of what was included in the first phase, especially the humanitarian part of it, and entering into negotiations in parallel with what pertains to the different pathways of the second phase."
In a related context, sources told "Reuters" that the administration of President Donald Trump plans to shut down the Civil-Military Coordination Center operated by the US Army in Kiryat Gat, south of Israel. Critics believe that the center has failed in its mission to monitor the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas and enhance the flow of aid to the besieged Palestinians.
Seven diplomats informed about the operations of the center led by the United States mentioned that it would soon be closed and its responsibilities concerning aid and monitoring would be handed over to the International Stabilization Force, which is scheduled to be deployed in Gaza under the command of the United States. This was denied by the "Council of Peace" in a tweet it posted on the platform "X" on Friday evening.
