Khaberni - Mustafa Magdy, the lawyer of the late doctor Diaa Al-Awadi, reveals the details of the exhumation and autopsy of his body to determine whether there is a criminal suspicion in his death.
Diaa Al-Awadi had been a major figure of controversy in the last months of his life due to his medical claims, and his mysterious death in a hotel in Dubai, UAE, sparked another debate, before the authorities confirmed his natural death due to a sudden heart attack.
The lawyer said in a video broadcast on Facebook today, Friday, "The body was exhumed yesterday, in the presence of a forensic doctor, members of the prosecution, a security force, and the wife of the deceased doctor."
He added, "A sample of the soil from the burial site and a sample from the body were taken to determine the presence of any toxins, alongside the autopsy in the cemetery before reburying it again."
In response to what was described as a ongoing controversy, he assured "full confidence in the prosecution and its investigations" and that they are capable of revealing the truth "if there was something," continuing: "I am sure of the integrity and that if there is any right, it will come."
He continued: "We did not prefer to exhume the body but some had doubts and we wanted to address them, and we found a very friendly treatment from the prosecution."
Hundreds attended the funeral of Dr. Diaa Al-Awadi, a former lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine at Ain Shams University, Egypt, last Friday afternoon to his final resting place.
The news of the death of Dr. Diaa Al-Awadi in the UAE generated widespread controversy after reports surfaced about a possible criminal suspicion, but the concerned authorities in both Egypt and the UAE officially settled the matter by confirming that the death was "completely natural" with no criminal suspicion, which put an end to the circulating rumors.
