Khaberni - Khaled Al-Manaseer, Director of the Forestry Department at the Ministry of Agriculture, said on Friday that protecting forest wealth is a shared responsibility among all parties, confirming that the Ministry of Agriculture has sent a plan to all directorates to prepare for the fire season through various procedures such as removing grass and pruning trees close to the ground.
Al-Manaseer added that the ministry has contracted a company specialized in using artificial intelligence to protect forests from fires, which works on early warning before fires occur, in addition to detecting assaults on forest wealth.
He mentioned the work on rehabilitating roads near forests to facilitate the access of civil defense to those areas in case of fires.
He spoke about the existence of plans and programs for planting trees, such as the 10 million tree initiative, with one million trees planted in its first year in several provinces.
Al-Manaseer confirmed the use of economically beneficial tree types for rural and forest-near communities, in addition to establishing a carob product factory and planting one million carob trees, confirming that there is a plan to increase the types of trees that will be planted.
