Khaberni - The Commissioner of Tourism and Youth Affairs in the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, Thabit Al-Nabulsi, stated that the average hotel occupancy rate in the city of Aqaba reached 76% during the Labor Day holiday 2026, indicating an increase in tourist activity in the city.
Al-Nabulsi also noted that the occupancy rate for the period from April 29 to May 2, 2026, was 76%, distributed across various hotel ratings. Five-star hotels recorded a 76% rate, four-star hotels 77%, while three-star hotels reached 75%.
He explained that the highest occupancy rates were recorded during the weekend, with 94% on Thursday, rising to 96% on Friday, whereas Wednesday recorded 54% and Saturday 60%, indicating a significant influx of visitors and tourists spending the Labor Day holiday in Aqaba, according to Al-Mamlaka.
The number of participants in the "Our Jordan is a Paradise" program on Thursday reached about 13,000 participants, distributed over 60 tourist paths, via 280 buses and tourist guides, coinciding with the Labor Day holiday and the weekend.
The spokesperson for the Ministry of Tourism and the program's director Ahmad Al-Rifai, said that 80% of the program's paths were fully occupied, noting that the paths cover various regions of the kingdom.
Al-Rifai added that the northern governorates and the Golden Triangle area, which includes Petra, Wadi Rum, and Aqaba, witnessed increased demand, along with notable interest in new destinations such as Iraq Al-Amir and Umm Ar-Rasas.
He pointed out that the rest of the participants were distributed over a number of tourist destinations, especially Madaba and Jerash, reflecting the diversity of the tourist product in the kingdom.
