Khaberni - The Public Prosecution in Egypt announced the start of investigations into the incident of accusing one of the individuals of indecent assault against several girls.
The prosecution stated in its statement that in light of what was observed by the Office for the Protection of Children and Persons with Disabilities and the Elderly at the Public Prosecution, which included publishing incidents attributed to one individual, including his accusation of indecent assault against four girls, the Public Prosecution has commenced its investigations, and listened to the statements of the reporters and the victims.
The prosecution added that three of the victims testified that they had been subjected to acts of indecent assault in different places, among them an unlicensed premises of a non-profit civil organization in the Garden City area, during the period from 2022 to 2025, while a fourth girl testified to being subjected to an indecent assault incident in 2017.
Exploited the conditions of his victims
The statements of the victims revealed that they resorted to the accused seeking support and recovery, amid their prevailing social and psychological circumstances characterized by domestic violence, and he exploited this situation in committing those incidents.
The Public Prosecution also listened to the statements of one of the workers at the site of the civil organization involved in the incident, who said that he noticed the accused dismissing him from work early or assigning him to arrive late on multiple occasions to facilitate the commission of those incidents.
The Public Prosecution interrogated the accused, who admitted to committing some of the incidents, and also examined his phone and electronic devices, and ordered the attachment of police investigations and the human trafficking combat unit, and investigations are ongoing.
Maintaining the privacy of victims and witnesses
The Public Prosecution announced that it had commenced the investigations in a framework of necessary confidentiality, in a manner that safeguards the privacy of the victims and witnesses and protects them, in accordance with the law.
Meanwhile, the prosecution appealed to the media and individuals not to publish or circulate any data or information that could reveal the identity of the victims or witnesses, or enable others to recognize them, affirming that it would take the legally prescribed measures against anyone who violates the law.
The incidents of the case date back to last February, when Egyptian lawyer Nesma El-Khatib formally filed complaints to the Public Prosecution against the author of the series "Pride of the Delta," accusing him of harassing two girls, confirming that she legally represents the two girls and presented the complaints on their behalf.
El-Khatib explained that she based her legal move on the testimonies of other girls who said that they had been exposed to similar incidents, and they published their stories on Facebook using a hashtag with the name of the accused author.
Luring and assaults
Following that procedure, shocking testimonies proliferated on social media under a hashtag bearing the name of the author, revealing more than 17 individuals, both girls and boys, recounting details of how the accused lured them and sexually assaulted them in brutal ways, exploiting their refuge at his and his institution’s doors seeking psychological support and assistance after different domestic violence incidents.
Meanwhile, some actresses published messages from the accused in his attempts to familiarize with them or lure them to various events without their response, which stirred a great controversy on social media, especially since the accused introduced himself as an activist in the field of human rights and combatting harassment, and supporting the victims in these incidents.
After the testimonies of the victims proliferated, and following the airing of the third episode of the series "Pride of the Delta" during last Ramadan, the producing company issued a statement announcing the temporary exclusion of the accused author's name from the credits of the work until the ongoing investigations are concluded.
