Khaberni - It is expected that the madness of scientific development will continue in the coming years, allowing scientists to turn back time, which has led some scientists to expect that this would lead to an infinite extension of human lifespans, or in other words, this return in time might ultimately mean that some humans might have the chance to live forever.
According to predictions made by one of the world-famous scientists, reported by Popular Mechanics, humanity is on the verge of reaching the point of "escaping the vicissitudes of age", a term indicating that scientific advancements will lead to an increase in human lifespans by more than a year each year, which means ultimately that the lifespan of some people will never end, or will continue to increase forever, or in other words, "time will go back".
These predictions were made in statements by Ray Kurzweil, a computer scientist and futurist who previously worked as a senior engineer in the field of artificial intelligence at Google, an American company.
Kurzweil believes that humanity will reach this point in just three years from now, meaning by the year 2029 science will be able to turn back time, through advancements that lead to some humans aging faster than the passage of time itself, meaning a person’s age increases by more than one year each year.
A report by the scientific website Popular Mechanics, reviewed by AlArabiya.net, states that the idea simply means that thanks to medical and technological advancements, we will soon reach a point where our average lifespans increase by more than a year each year, effectively giving us extra time.
This is a controversial idea, and even if achievable, it would require widespread access to the latest medical technologies, though it is still closer to fantasy than to realizable reality.
For instance, as medical innovation continues, we will keep aging, but the average expected lifespan will rise, say by a year and two months, which means we will effectively regain two months of our previous life.
Kurzweil said: "After 2029, you will regain more than a year. Go back in time. Once you are able to regain at least a year, you have reached the speed of escaping the constraints of life extension."
It may seem like a very near future, but Kurzweil seems convinced of it, due largely to the accelerating pace of medical progress.
He added in an interview: "We were able to produce the COVID-19 vaccine within ten months. It took only two days to develop because we analyzed billions of different ribonucleic acid sequences over two days. And there are many other developments ongoing. We are starting to see the use of biological simulation, which is one of the reasons that will enable us to make tremendous progress in the next five years."
