Khaberni - the Tasnim Iranian agency revealed last Wednesday that 6 of the container ship "Tuska" crew have returned to Iran after pursuits by Tehran, whereas 22 other sailors remain on the vessel detained by the US Navy.
On April 20, President Donald Trump announced that his country's navy had seized an Iranian cargo ship named "Tuska," after intercepting it in the Gulf of Oman, under the pretense of attempting to break the maritime blockade.
Tasnim clarified, quoting its correspondent, that due to the efforts by Iran, 6 members of the Iranian crew were released at this stage, adding that "the Iranian follow-up continues to secure the release of the remaining 22 Iranians on board this vessel, who are still hostages held by the US government," according to Tasnim.
The Iranian agency stated that Tehran "refrained at this stage from carrying out a military operation to liberate the ship, due to the presence of crew members with their families on board," but confirmed the continuation of official follow-ups and taking what it described as "the necessary actions."
An Iranian military spokesperson declared, in response to the detention of "Tuska," that "the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran will soon respond and avenge this armed piracy committed by the US army."
The Iranian Foreign Ministry demanded the immediate release of the ship, its crew, and their families. No details were disclosed about the ship's crew at that time.
