Trump on UAEs OPEC withdrawal I think its great

Khaberni - US President Donald Trump told reporters at the White House, on Wednesday, that he thinks the UAE's withdrawal from the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) is great.

On Tuesday, the UAE announced its decision to exit the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries "OPEC" and "OPEC+" effective May 1, 2026, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM).

This decision aligns with the UAE's long-term strategic vision and the development of its energy sector, including accelerating investment in domestic energy production, and it solidifies its commitment to its role as a responsible and reliable producer envisioning the future of global energy markets.

This decision came after a thorough review of the UAE's production policy and its current and future capabilities, in light of national interest and the state's commitment to effectively contribute to meeting the pressing needs of the market, while geopolitical volatility continues in the short term through disturbances in the Arabian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz affecting supply dynamics, as the fundamental trends indicate a continued growth in global energy demand in the medium and long term.

The stability of the global energy system depends on the availability of flexible, reliable, and affordably priced supplies, and the UAE has invested to meet demand variations efficiently and responsibly, with a priority on supply stability, affordability, and sustainability.

This decision comes after decades of constructive cooperation, with the Emirates joining "OPEC" in 1967 through the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and maintaining its membership after the establishment of the United Arab Emirates in 1971. During this period, the country played an active role in supporting the stability of the global oil market and promoting dialogue among producing countries.
