Khaberni - Portuguese Jose Mourinho, coach of Benfica, clearly refused to respond to the possibility of him coaching Real Madrid at the beginning of next season instead of Alvaro Arbeloa, indicating that all he is currently focused on is leading his team to the Champions League.
"The Athletic" reported that Mourinho is considered the most likely candidate by Florentino Perez, president of Real Madrid, to coach the team next season, but there are other voices within the club opposing his return, as he previously coached the capital's team from 2010 to 2013.
When asked about the speculations linking him to Real Madrid and Juventus, Mourinho answered: No, my next goal is to lead Benfica to the Champions League.
He added: We have had an exceptional journey; we are the only team in Europe that has not lost any games. If we win our next three matches, we will qualify for the most important tournament in Europe. This is all that occupies my mind.
Mourinho surprised many by saying: For me, Rome was the best place in my career. I have never felt such an amazing atmosphere around any football team, the Olympico is always full, and the way people feel about the players. When we won the Conference League, the celebration was incredible; even in my victories in the Champions League, I have never seen scenes like this."
