UAE apprehends international drug gang and seizes large quantities of narcotics

Khaberni - The National Drug Enforcement Agency in the United Arab Emirates announced that it successfully executed a joint operation with Dubai Police, Sharjah, and the Kingdom of Bahrain lasting a month, which resulted in the apprehension of a criminal gang composed of 13 suspects holding Asian and African nationalities, led by a drug dealer of Asian nationality from outside the country, specialized in the promotion of narcotics.

The agency clarified that, in cooperation with the security agencies in the brotherly Kingdom of Bahrain, the gang leader was arrested outside the country and brought to the UAE to be presented to justice and face the appropriate punishment, pointing out that "the operation lasted for a month and came after operations of research, investigation, and tight field surveillance, during which the working teams monitored the movements of the suspects and coordinated among themselves, and the investigations revealed receiving instructions from the drug dealer outside the country to distribute quantities of narcotics in various areas of the country. 

The National Drug Enforcement Agency mentioned that the total seizures of narcotics weighed 56,623 kilograms of narcotics, in addition to 8,159 pills of psychoactive substances, and a large quantity of electronic cigarettes filled with hash oil, with a total value amounting to approximately 3,300,000 Dirhams, confirming that the National Drug Enforcement Agency will continue its efforts to enhance the protection and security of the community from this dangerous scourge. 

The agency affirmed that this operation is part of a comprehensive national strategy aimed at drying up the sources of drug trafficking, and not just pursuing promoters within the country, but reaching the main elements that manage criminal networks from abroad and attempt to harm the security of the United Arab Emirates and the stability of its community.

The agency explained that regional and international cooperation represents a fundamental pillar in confronting these transnational crimes, pointing out that continuous coordination with brotherly and friendly police and security agencies contributed to tracking the cell members and monitoring their movements, leading to thwarting their criminal plans and bringing the involved to justice.

The National Drug Enforcement Agency emphasized owning the legal frameworks and operational capabilities that enable it to take the necessary actions against drug traders who manage criminal networks from outside the country, ensuring the protection of the community and deterring anyone who dares to target the Emirates and its people with this dangerous scourge.
