Egypt Developments in the Trial of a Dangerous Ukrainian Gang Discovered by Chance

Khaberni - The Giza Criminal Court postponed examining the case regarding the formation of the “Ukrainian gang,” an international group involving 8 defendants, until the day after tomorrow.

The case files included detailed accusations against the eight defendants: “Ivan Hotsuliak,” “Yevgeny Mekhanenik,” “Olga Chepkalenko,” “Abdullah Beit Daif,” “Viktor Kosta Kisty,” “Myron Bybak,” “Anastasia Pashchenko,” and “Mahmoud Mohamed,” who formed and managed an organized criminal gang with the aim of trafficking in drugs.

The Public Prosecution entrusted the first defendant, Ivan Hotsuliak, with leading the gang and distributing tasks among its members, as he concluded deals with major drug traffickers and smugglers to export drugs outside of Egypt and supplied raw materials to other gang members to carry out their criminal activities, on April 22, 2025, in the First October district in Giza.

Investigations revealed that the gang manufactured and exported nerve agents and jeweled drugs named “Phenethylamine,” into and out of Egyptian territories without obtaining written licenses from the competent authorities, and they were found in possession of quantities of the same narcotic substances intended for trade, in violation of the statutory legal provisions.

The prosecution’s investigations were based on the testimony of a witness, who reported receiving information about a fire in a building in the Sixth of October city. After controlling the fire, large quantities of “Phenethylamine” powder and pills were found, along with equipment and tools designated for manufacturing this type of drug.

The witness added in his testimony that during the search, 5 mobile phones, a tablet, a laptop, and a sum of money were found. Four of the accused were arrested with 3 mobile phones and 2 cars in their possession, who confessed before the investigative authorities to forming an organized criminal gang aimed at trafficking in narcotic substances, by importing raw materials from abroad and manufacturing locally before exporting them to international markets.
