Egyptian Cobra Kills German Tourist in Front of Audience

Khaberni - A German tourist was killed in a tragic incident in the Egyptian city of Hurghada after being bitten by a "cobra" snake that penetrated his clothes during a "snake charmer" show in front of an audience.

In the details announced by the German police, the 57-year-old tourist was on a family vacation at the famous tourist resort on the Red Sea at the beginning of this April. While attending a snake taming show, the "magician" placed snakes around the necks of several attendees, before allowing one of the snakes to slide inside the German tourist's trousers, causing it to suddenly jerk and bite him on the leg.

The Bavarian police statement mentioned that the victim showed immediate and severe signs of poisoning, necessitating doctors' intervention to revive him at the scene before he was urgently transported to the hospital. However, attempts to save him were unsuccessful, and he later succumbed to the cobra's venom.

For its part, the police and the public prosecutor in Germany have initiated an official investigation into the circumstances of the death, as investigators await the final toxicology results to determine the legal details of the incident that turned a family leisure trip into a tragedy.

Although such shows attract visitors, they raise safety concerns, especially when they involve handling venomous snakes like cobras.

International tourism organizations emphasize the need for strict preventive measures during such events to protect participants and visitors from unexpected hazards.
