Jordan 10000 Withdrawals from the Optional Subscription in Social Security

Khaberni - Musa Al-Subeihi, an expert in insurance and social protection, warned about the risks of discontinuing the optional subscription in social security, affirming that this decision negatively impacts the subscribers’ retirement future.

Al-Subeihi noted that data from the Social Security Corporation indicates a decline in the number of active insured individuals from 1.666 million at the beginning of the year to 1.656 million as of April 28, 2026.

He added that this decline is due to approximately 10,000 insured individuals retiring, in addition to about 10,000 subscribers stopping their optional subscriptions.

Al-Subeihi highlighted that the number of optional subscribers decreased from 112,000 to 102,000, pointing out that this withdrawal occurred in the context of some subscribers protesting against the proposed amendment to the Social Security Law.

He explained that the bill is currently on hold, awaiting the next session of the Parliament, which makes the final picture unclear as of now.

Al-Subeihi emphasized the need for subscribers who have stopped their subscriptions to return, urging them to continue subscribing and accumulating time periods without interruption.

He affirmed that the strength of the retirement salary and the level of social protection fundamentally depend on the duration of subscription and its continuity.

He mentioned that about 58,000 retirees have been able to secure a retirement salary through optional subscriptions to this day.

Al-Subeihi concluded by affirming that any interruption in the subscription represents a waste of years of effort, age, and money, emphasizing that social protection does not wait for hesitance or pauses.
