What is the relationship between skin sleep disorders and memory

Khaberni - A recent scientific study revealed that atopic dermatitis does not limit its effects to the skin only, but may extend to include sleep and memory disorders.
The study included 78 adults with this disease, and the researchers found that 77% of the participants suffered from sleep problems, and 64% suffer from memory impairment. Moreover, the severity of symptoms was directly related to the severity of the disease: the more severe the skin inflammation, the more difficult it was to enter the sleep phase, and sleep hours were reduced by approximately 4.5 hours in severe cases.

The analysis also showed that poor sleep is closely linked to cognitive impairment, such as difficulty concentrating and recalling information. According to statistics, poor sleep increases the risk of memory problems by more than four times, while daytime fatigue increases this risk by more than three times.
The scientists pointed out that sleep disorders and memory problems reinforce each other when a person is affected by atopic dermatitis: the worse a person's sleep, the more their cognitive functions deteriorate, due to chronic itching, inflammation, and the constant feeling of discomfort, which impedes proper brain recovery during sleep.

The researchers emphasized the need to assess sleep quality and cognitive complaints alongside the skin condition in patients with atopic dermatitis.
