Khaberni - Jordanian artist Hussam Al-Silawi broke his silence to respond to the wave of criticism he faced in recent days, following accusations related to the content of a live broadcast that caused widespread controversy, where he posted a series of responses on the story feature on his official account.
Al-Silawi clarified his rejection of what is being circulated about his health condition, denying what he described as rumors related to mental illness or his need for treatment.
He added that these allegations are untrue, describing those who promote them as liars, and affirming that he is in good health despite the attack he is facing.
He pointed out that he made a "mistake in one word," explaining that it does not exceed being a possible human error, referring to a phrase he mentioned during his speech.
At the same time, he affirmed his commitment to the essence of his positions, emphasizing the importance of love and respect among all religions.
He highlighted that he will continue to express his convictions regardless of the reactions, saying that he will persist "even if the universe is against him."
He explained that what he presents reflects personal convictions that he will not abandon.
He referred to his previous post where he quoted from the Quran, where he published verses from Surah Al-Hijr that express distress about what is being said
He confirmed this with the phrase "Hasbi Allah wa ni'm al-wakil," in reference to his stance on the escalating criticisms.
A responsible security source reported that the unit for combating cybercrimes has started investigating a video circulated on social media platforms, which shows the young Hussam Al-Silawi making statements offensive to Islam and the Prophet Muhammad - peace be upon him, where the content was handled according to the legal procedures followed in such cases.
The source confirmed that Al-Silawi is currently abroad, emphasizing that he will be circulated legally in preparation for taking the necessary legal actions against him upon his return to Jordan, and completing the official investigations related to the file.
The security source confirmed that the specialized agencies, represented by the cybercrimes unit, continuously monitor all that is published on social media sites, as part of their efforts to control digital content and dealing with any violations that may affect religious values or social peace.
He explained that this type of cases is handled according to the accepted legal frameworks, to ensure that there is no leniency with any content that could provoke controversy or negatively affect public opinion, confirming that legal monitoring of the digital space is continuous and daily.
The Syndicate of Artists decides on its stance from the controversy
In a related context, the Jordanian Artists Syndicate issued an official statement in which it followed up on statements attributed to Al-Silawi who presents himself as an artist, confirming that this person has no relation with the syndicate, and is not registered in its official records, and has never been dealt with or recognized in any professional or syndicate framework.
The syndicate emphasized its absolute rejection of any insult to religious or national values, or an attempt to exploit the art form to provoke controversy or inflame dissensions within society, considering that art is a human and cultural mission based on respecting the constants and enhancing awareness, and not a means to spread misconceptions or transgressions.
The syndicate confirmed in its statement that the artistic message in Jordan is based on clear foundations of respecting religious and national values, and it has always been a tool for building cultural awareness and enhancing social identity, and not a means to provoke seditions or publish content that offends society.
It pointed out that any attempt to present offensive content under the name of art damages the image of the entire art sector, and creates a mix-up between individuals and official entities, which the syndicate totally rejects.
It also called on the media and social media users to ensure accuracy and credibility before publishing or circulating any content, and not to give professional titles without verifying their legal and official status, especially in cases that affect public opinion or community values.
It clarified that exaggeration or transmitting inaccurate information contributes to confusing the general scene and misleading the public by linking individual cases to institutions or whole sectors unjustifiably.
The syndicate confirmed that it retains the full right to take the necessary legal actions in coordination with the competent authorities, in case these violations or assaults on the reputation of the Jordanian artistic scene continue, indicating that dealing with such files is done within the official legal frameworks.
It also indicated that the continuation of such practices without deterrence might lead to their repetition, posing a risk to the cultural and artistic scene and to the public's trust in the artistic content presented.
A crisis extends within the family
Parallel to the security and syndicate statement, the issue took another more sensitive dimension, after statements by the father of the young Al-Silawi, revealing details related to his relationship with his son, amidst the rising controversy surrounding the case in recent days.
The father explained that the relationship with his son has reached a stage of complete severance, and that communication between them has been completely halted for some time, in a position that reflects the magnitude of the tension and disagreement between the parties.
The father confirmed in his statements that he disowns the actions and words issued by his son, indicating that they do not represent him or reflect the values he was raised on within the family, in a position described as expressing a clear rejection of what occurred.
He also revealed that he has blocked his son on all social media platforms for some time, explaining that this decision came as a result of previous accumulations and disagreements that were not just recent, but extended over multiple stages.
The father pointed out that the disagreement is not only linked to recent events, but goes back to previous artistic and personal choices that were not acceptable to him, which contributed to deepening the disparity in viewpoints between the parties.
Despite the severity of the current situation, he did not rule out the possibility of resuming communication in the future, but linked it to a clear change in orientations and positions, and a reconsideration of choices in the upcoming phase, which would allow overcoming the crisis and rebuilding the relationship.
