Shock after 7 years A minor accident leads a Jordanian to prison and a fine of 18000 dinars

Khaberni - A Jordanian citizen revealed the details of a shocking case he faced years after a minor traffic accident he experienced in 2018, where he was surprised by demands for judicial enforcement and the issuance of a sentence ordering his imprisonment and fining him 18,000 dinars, although the accident was minor and was handled according to legal procedures at the time.

The citizen stated during radio statements for Hayat FM that the accident was merely a "bumper and wing hit" due to a lane change, confirming that he had comprehensive insurance and had filed a formal claim at the time of the accident.

He added that things seemed normal at the time, without any indications of significant legal repercussions afterward.

He noted that he was surprised years later by the request for judicial enforcement after the issuance of a ruling sentencing him to imprisonment and a fine of 18,000 dinars.

He confirmed that he was informed that the insurance company that covered the accident had declared bankruptcy, which led to him being financially responsible.

The citizen pointed out that the case directly affected his life, as he was terminated from his job after he became required for execution.

He added that he is living in difficult circumstances, saying, "I do not have enough for food and drink," noting that he tried to offer a settlement, but it was refused.

This case raised questions about the fate of insured individuals in case insurance companies go bankrupt, and the extent of the legal protection available to them in such situations, especially when it involves old accidents that were previously handled properly.
