Khaberni - The American President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that Iran is currently in a "state of collapse" and revealed that it asked him "to open the Strait of Hormuz as soon as possible".
On the "Truth Social" platform, the American President wrote: "Iran has just informed us that it is in a state of collapse. They are asking us to open the Strait of Hormuz as soon as possible, while they try to sort out their leadership situation (and I think they will be able to do so). Thank you for your concern about this matter."
Reuters reported on Tuesday that Trump is displeased with Iran's latest proposal to resolve the ongoing war for two months, which has diminished the hopes of reaching a resolution to this conflict.
The official added, "He (Trump) disfavors this proposal," noting that the American president discussed the proposal with his senior national security advisors.
Iranian sources said on Monday that the proposal involves delaying the discussion of the Iranian nuclear program until the end of the war and resolving the navigation-related disputes, while Washington insists that settling the nuclear issues is essential from the start.
Sources from Pakistan, which is playing a mediating role, reported that efforts to bridge views between the United States and Iran have not stopped.
However, hopes of reviving peace efforts have dwindled since Trump announced early in the week the cancellation of a visit by his special envoy Steve Witkoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner to Islamabad.
The United States announced that Iran had put forward a new proposal to stop the war, and Washington emphasized its adherence to its demands.
White House spokeswoman Carolin Levitt told reporters on Monday that President Donald Trump "discussed" a new Iranian proposal "to reach a resolution to the war between the two countries" with his senior national security advisors.
Levitt did not express her opinion on the proposal, which Reuters said "involves opening the Strait of Hormuz and discussing the Iranian nuclear program later."
But Levitt confirmed that Trump's basic demands remain the same.
Trump wants to open the Strait of Hormuz and for Iran to hand over its stockpile of enriched uranium.
