Khaberni - The Chairman of the Irbid Greater Municipality Committee, Imad Al-Azam, stressed the importance of preserving the history, heritage, and identity of the city of Irbid, and introducing it to the younger generations, which contributes to enhancing the national identity.
He also confirmed that the municipality is proceeding with the implementation of the Tell Irbid project at an accelerated pace, which includes the creation of Tell Park and the investment of heritage houses that have been acquired in line with the project's objectives.
During a meeting on Tuesday with a delegation from the "Loyalty to Irbid" initiative, he pointed to the municipality's direction to allocate one of the heritage houses as a public library, in addition to starting the development of Ali Khalqi Al-Sharairi’s house by transforming it into a political and cultural forum in partnership with Yarmouk University, restoring Juma’s house to its former status as a heritage hotel in the city center, and restoring Al-Jouda neighborhood, incorporating it with Al-Nablusi house for optimal investment.
Al-Azam explained that the municipality has begun preparing a study for an integrated project to develop and rehabilitate the municipal stadium, in partnership with a donor entity, including annexing adjacent lands and creating a new training stadium in the Bashra area.
He affirmed that the financial situation of the municipality enables it to implement various service projects and improve the quality of roads and general cleanliness, thereby meeting the needs of the citizens.
The participants in the meeting agreed on renaming the new vegetable market project in the city center to "Saha Al-Afraha Market", which is the traditional old name for the site, emphasizing the importance of joint work in line with the directions of His Highness Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, the Crown Prince, in documenting the Jordanian narrative, preserving the memory of the location, and documenting the political, social, and cultural life in the city of Irbid.
