Khaberni - Media reports indicated that the Algerian team received a worrying blow ahead of upcoming competitions, after its goalkeeper Luka Zidane sustained a severe injury during a match for his team Granada against Almeria in the Spanish second division.
SportsCenter on XN reported "the goalkeeper left the field in the final minutes of the game, which ended with Granada losing 2-4, following a strong intervention that resulted in an injury at the level of the jaw and chin, amid fears of a fracture that calls for urgent medical intervention, raising doubts about his readiness to participate in the 2026 World Cup with the Algerian team."
"No final details have yet been issued regarding the nature of the injury or the expected duration of absence, as the player awaits undergoing precise examinations to determine the treatment plan, whether through surgical intervention or simply conservative treatment, which will largely determine his position on catching up with the World Cup," it was clarified.
This injury comes at a critical time, especially as Zidane is considered one of the important options in the Algerian team roster, which is preparing to compete in strong events at the world tournament, as the technical staff awaits medical clarity in the coming days to decide the fate of the player.
The Algerian team plays in Group Ten along with the teams from Argentina, Jordan, and Austria.
