Egypt First comment on the news of the mysterious virus at a school in Cairo

Khaberni - The Ministry of Education in Egypt has categorically denied what has been raised on social media regarding the spread of a mysterious virus within one of the experimental schools in Cairo Governorate and its association with the death of a student.

An official source at the Ministry of Education stated that the circulated news about the death of a student at Ibrahim Al-Rifai Experimental School in New Cairo Administration due to a virus widespread among the students is "completely untrue".

The responsible source confirmed that the educational process is proceeding normally and regularly at all study levels without any disruption or exceptional preventive measures.

The source clarified that the student whose death was reported had been absent from school since last Tuesday, April 21, and was not present within the school premises at the time of death.

The source added that the medical report issued by the concerned hospital attributed the cause of death to a sudden circulatory collapse, which has no connection with any viral infection or contagious disease.

The source appealed to parents and social media users to “verify the accuracy and check the official sources before publishing or circulating any news,” warning that such rumors could cause unnecessary panic among families and students.

Social media sites and parent groups in New Cairo have recently been abuzz with unconfirmed reports about the spread of a mysterious virus inside Ibrahim Al-Rifai Experimental School, and some have claimed that this virus caused the death of a student.

These rumors come amidst a general state of anxiety that sometimes pervades communities with any news of student death within a school environment, especially after previous experiences with viral pandemics that affected the educational process.
