Khaberni - In the United States, actor Nathan Chasing Horse was sentenced to life imprisonment after being found guilty of sexually assaulting Native American women and girls.
A judge in Nevada delivered the sentence yesterday, Monday, to the well-known actor who starred in "Dances with Wolves". The jury had previously convicted him on 13 charges, mostly related to sexual assault, while accusations from 3 women, one of whom was 14 years old when the assaults began. He was acquitted of some of the charges against him.
During the sentencing hearing, the complainants and their family members told Judge Jessica Peterson that they still suffer from the psychological trauma caused by Chasing Horse's actions, and that they struggle to believe after he exploited his position as a spiritual leader.
Chasing Horse, who wore the dark blue prison uniform of the Clark County Detention Center, stared forward as the victims read their statements. He denied the charges against him.
He said to the judge: "This is a miscarriage of justice."
