Khaberni - The American President Donald Trump has demanded that "ABC" network fire Jimmy Kimmel, after he described Melania Trump as a "pending widow" two days before the White House Correspondents' Dinner held on Saturday.
The President wrote in a post on the "Truth Social" platform: "Jimmy Kimmel must be fired immediately by Disney and ABC", echoing a call made by the First Lady earlier that same day.
Trump added, saying: "Kimmel, who is by no means funny as his terrible TV ratings attest, made a truly shocking statement on his show. He displayed a fake video of the First Lady, Melania, and our son Barron, making it appear as if they were actually sitting in his studio listening to him talk, which never happened and will never happen".
The White House Correspondents' Dinner for the year 2026, one of the premiere social events of the year in Washington D.C., drew exceptional attention due to the attendance of the President and the First Lady for the first time since they entered the White House.
Kimmel ridiculed the event on his show Thursday night, where he delivered his own speech saying: "Our First Lady, Melania, is here. Look at Melania, very beautiful. Mrs. Trump , your face bears the glow of a pending widow" (a dark humor implying that she will soon become a widow).
Earlier on Monday, Melania Trump sharply criticized the late-night host, describing him as "the coward" who "hides behind ABC because he knows the network will continue to provide cover to protect him".
The Trump administration launched a comprehensive attack on Kimmel, as it targeted the Democratic lawmakers who criticized the President, stating that their speech led to incidents like those that occurred on Saturday night.
On Monday, the White House Press Secretary, Carolyn Levitt, questioned: "Who in their right mind would say a wife would glow at the prospect of her beloved husband being killed? Based on what I experienced with the First Lady on Saturday night, I can tell you it was completely the opposite".
Levitt, nine months pregnant, was sitting at the main table at Saturday night's dinner next to the First Lady. The two women had to crawl away from the platform while security forces escorted them—with the President—to a safe place.
Authorities detained Cole Allen (31 years old) and he was called to face multiple federal charges on Monday afternoon in the Federal Court in Washington D.C.
Monday marked the second time Trump has demanded the comedian's dismissal. The first was in September 2025, when Kimmel was suspended from broadcasting for a week following violent reactions from affiliated stations after his comments about conservative activist Charlie Kirk following his assassination.
