Wall Street Journal New Iranian Offer in Exchange for Ending the War

Khaberni  - "Wall Street Journal" reports, citing informed officials, that Iran has proposed a new offer to mediators, which stipulates the opening of the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for ending the war and lifting the American blockade.

It added that the proposal made by the Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi aims to break the deadlock in the conflict and to restart negotiations, and includes postponing discussions on the nuclear program.

The newspaper quoted an informed official saying that Washington has not yet responded to the new Iranian proposal.

According to the newspaper, the Iranian proposal lays out a three-phase peace plan starting with the United States and Israel ending the war and providing guarantees against its resumption, then suggests Iran will work with mediators on resolving the issue of the Strait of Hormuz closure and reaching an agreement on its management.

"Wall Street Journal" pointed out that the Iranian proposal includes starting negotiations on the nuclear program and other issues such as supporting its allies in the region, after the war has stopped and the Strait of Hormuz issue has been resolved.

Officials told the newspaper that Iran has clarified to the mediators that it still seeks to maintain control over the Strait of Hormuz.

In this context, White House spokesperson Caroline Levitt stated that US President Donald Trump has been briefed on the Iranian proposals regarding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, noting that there is no information regarding the progress of the mine-clearing process in the strait.

Earlier, Axios website, citing a US official and informed sources, reported that Iran has proposed through Pakistani mediators a new deal aimed at reopening the Strait of Hormuz and ending the war, with negotiations on the nuclear program postponed to a later stage.

According to sources, the new proposal discussed during the visit of the Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to Pakistan focuses on addressing the crisis of the Strait of Hormuz and the American naval blockade as a priority.

The sources added that the proposal indicates the possibility of extending the ceasefire for a long period, or reaching a permanent agreement to end the war, with nuclear negotiations to begin in a later stage after the reopening of the strait and the lifting of the blockade.
