Khaberni - On Monday, the Iraqi President Nizar Amidi tasked the Coordination Framework candidate Ali Al-Zaidi with forming the Iraqi government, according to the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
The Iraqi Coordination Framework had announced the nomination of Ali Al-Zaidi to hold the position of Prime Minister and form the upcoming government.
The media department of the Coordination Framework said in a statement published by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The Coordination Framework held its important meeting on Monday in the government palace in Baghdad, representing a symbolic continuity of state institutions, and a venue for the executive authority that emerges from the will of our Iraqi people."
It added, "At the beginning of the meeting, the leaders of the framework praised the performance of the government under Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' Al-Sudani over the past three and a half years, for its national and responsible handling of economic, regional, and international challenges, and for achieving the government's program, particularly in the development track, and restoring the Iraqi citizen's confidence in their political, electoral system which was clearly evident through the broad participation in the recent parliamentary elections."
It added, "The Coordination Framework also appreciated the historic, responsible positions of the leader of the State of Law Coalition, Nouri Kamel Al-Maliki, and the leader of the Reconstruction and Development Coalition, Mohammed Shia' Al-Sudani, who stepped down from the candidature for the presidency and forming of the upcoming government, in a step that confirms their concern for the supreme national interests, facilitating the overcoming of political deadlock, and providing the opportunity for the Coordination Framework to choose the candidate who meets the required specifications to hold the position of Prime Minister, suitable for the current phase and its challenges."
The statement continued, "After deliberating the names of the candidates, Ali Al-Zaidi was chosen to be the candidate of the Coordination Framework block, being the largest block in the Parliament, to hold the position of Prime Minister and form the upcoming government."
