Bitcoin hovers near 78000

Khaberni - Bitcoin, the cryptocurrency, declined on Monday after touching the barrier of $79.5 thousand, supported by improved institutional demand, despite geopolitical tensions.

Bitcoin fell by 0.61%, to $77,774, after earlier rising to $79,488, the highest level since January 31st.
Ethereum – the second largest cryptocurrency by value - fell by 2.2%, reaching $2316.47, while Ripple declined by 0.69%, at $1.4183, and Solana by 2.1%, at $85.08.
The recent movements in cryptocurrencies come in a phase characterized by a delicate balance between supporting factors and others pressing on the markets.
On one hand, the institutional demand continues to play a pivotal role in supporting prices, with ongoing investment flows into funds tied to digital currencies, which bolsters investor confidence, and limits sharp volatilities. Also, the expectations of interest rate cuts in the United States in the coming period, enhance the attractiveness of high-risk assets, including cryptocurrencies.
On the other hand, geopolitical tensions still cast their shadows on the sentiments of the global markets, prompting some investors to hedge and reduce their positions in more volatile assets.
Moreover, markets await any new regulatory signals from supervisory bodies, especially in the United States and Europe, where upcoming laws and legislation can directly impact the market trajectory.
Regarding performance, major currencies have seen significant gains since the beginning of the year, driven by a return of investment momentum, but the pace of ascent has become more cautious recently. This performance reflects a state of anticipation among dealers, with a tendency to take profits at elevated levels, in the absence of strong catalysts to push prices to sustainably breakthrough new peaks.
Analysts believe that the market may experience sideways movements in the near term, with prices staying within limited ranges, until new catalysts emerge, whether on the monetary policy front or regulatory developments, which may determine the next direction for digital currencies.
