There is a list of 13 prominent players who will miss the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada due to serious injuries, most of them from major European clubs, representing a significant loss for their national teams.
Among the notable players whose absence from the tournament is confirmed are the Dutch Xavi Simons (Tottenham), Brazilian Rodrigo (Real Madrid), Argentine Joaquin Panchelli (Strasbourg), Ghanaian Mohammed Salisu (Monaco), and Japanese Takumi Minamino (Monaco) due to ACL injuries.
The absence of the Brazilian duo Eder Militao (Real Madrid) and Estevao (Chelsea), Ghanaian Mohammed Kudus (Tottenham), and German Serge Gnabry (Bayern Munich) is expected due to muscle injuries.
On the other hand, French Hugo Ekitike (Liverpool), Argentine Juan Foyth (Villarreal), and Mexican Luis Malagon (Club America) will miss due to Achilles tendon injuries, and Japanese Wataru Endo (Liverpool) due to an ankle injury.
It is worth mentioning that the 2026 World Cup will be held with the participation of 48 teams for the first time in history, from June 11 to July 19 of the current year.
