Khaberni - The preparations for the Colombian star Shakira's concert in Rio de Janeiro witnessed a painful incident, after one of the crew members lost his life during the stage setup due to serious injuries resulting from a malfunction in the hydraulic lifting system used in construction.
According to an official statement issued by the organizers of the Todo Mundo no Rio event, the accident occurred on April 26 during the worker's participation in the stage installation.
The statement clarified that emergency teams intervened quickly and provided first aid on-site, before transferring the injured to the hospital, where he later died from his wounds.
In turn, the Rio de Janeiro state fire department reported that the worker suffered severe crushing injuries to the lower part of his body due to a malfunction in the lifting equipment during the installation process.
His colleagues managed to extract him from between the equipment before the arrival of the rescue teams, which dealt with the situation immediately, but attempts to save him were unsuccessful.
The concert organizers expressed their deep sorrow for the incident, confirming their support for the family of the victim, and providing the necessary support to the company responsible for the work team, in addition to supporting all those affected by the incident.
The concert was scheduled to take place within a major event at Copacabana Beach, which is one of the most famous tourist sites in Brazil, and attracts huge numbers of audiences annually. The event is classified among the most prominent open concerts hosting international stars, highlighting the importance of adhering to safety procedures during the preparation stages.
