Decline in Drug Crimes in Jordan by 128 During 2025

Khaberni - Drug crimes committed in Jordan decreased last year by 12.78% according to the criminal statistic report issued by the Public Security Directorate, showing a total of 22,031 crimes, compared with 25,260 crimes in 2024.

This decline was driven by a greater decrease in drug trafficking crimes compared to possession and usage; with trafficking crimes dropping to 6,311 in 2025, versus 7,762 crimes in 2024, marking a reduction of 18.69%, while possession and usage crimes dropped to 15,720 from 17,498 last year, a decrease of 10.16%.

Despite the overall decline, possession and usage of drugs accounted for the largest share of total cases recorded in 2025, making up 71.35%, compared to 28.65% for trafficking crimes.

 

The data also showed a decrease in the rate of drug crimes per 10,000 people in Jordan to 18 crimes in 2025, compared with 22 crimes in 2024, while the time interval for committing these crimes increased to one crime every 23 minutes and 51 seconds during 2025, compared to one crime every 20 minutes and 52 seconds in the preceding year.

Geographically, the Capital Region recorded the highest number of drug crimes with 9,546 crimes, including 2,628 trafficking and 6,918 possession and usage, followed by the Central Region with 4,425 crimes divided between 1,141 trafficking and 3,284 possession and usage.

In the Northern Region, there were 4,363 crimes, including 1,469 trafficking and 2,894 possession and usage, while the Southern Region recorded 1,996 crimes, of which 532 were trafficking and 1,464 were possession and usage, and the Royal Badia Police recorded 1,701 crimes divided into 541 trafficking and 1,160 possession and usage.

For crimes committed by juveniles, the total count stabilized at 169 crimes in both 2024 and 2025, however, the data showed a decline in trafficking from 65 to 56 crimes, a decrease of 13.85%, compared to an increase in possession and usage from 104 to 113 crimes, an increase of 8.65%.

As for the crimes committed by foreigners, there was a total decrease from 2,211 crimes in 2024 to 2,004 crimes last year, a reduction of 9.36%, despite an increase in trafficking among them from 540 crimes to 580 crimes, an increase of 7.41%, compared to a decline in possession and usage crimes from 1,671 to 1,424 crimes, a reduction of 14.78% during the same period.
