FIFAs First Move to Dispel Concerns of World Cup 2026 Teams

Khaberni - The International Football Association (FIFA) has initially agreed to increase the prize money and participation fees for the 2026 World Cup, scheduled in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, from June 11 to July 19, 2026.
The 2026 World Cup finals will feature 48 teams for the first time in history, with 104 matches being played.

FIFA's council has decided to increase the rewards for the national teams, after many national associations expressed concerns about the rising costs, especially travel costs, logistical services, and taxes in the United States.

Initially, FIFA announced a record total prize money of 727 million dollars, ensuring each of the 48 participating teams receives at least 10.5 million dollars, with the winner receiving 50 million dollars.

However, after recent discussions, it is expected that the financial value awarded to each participating country in the 2026 World Cup will increase.

The "Guardian" newspaper revealed that the final approval to increase the financial prize amount would be during the FIFA council meeting in Vancouver.

The newspaper explained, "This increase is seen as a response to pressures from several associations, fearing they might incur losses unless they reach the advanced stages of the tournament."
