20 Years on the Kentucky Beasts Case The Judgment in a Heartbreaking Crime

Khaberni - U.S reports indicated that a couple from the state of Kentucky will spend the next two decades behind bars after being convicted of gruesomely mistreating children in their "house of horrors."
WYMT Channel reported that Mary Hall (44 years old) was granted custody of her sister's three children after her sister died in a tragic car accident in 2018 and the father of the children was imprisoned for manslaughter.

Hall moved to Pike County in Kentucky with the three children after starting a relationship with Jerome Norman (44 years old), and soon the children's teachers and school principal began to notice disturbing signs of abuse, including mysterious bruises and patterns of hunger in at least one of the children.

The prosecution claimed in court that authorities were first alerted after things worsened in 2025, when one of the children returned to school after an extended holiday due to a winter storm, suffering from malnutrition, bruises, and a broken tooth.

An immediate investigation conducted by the Kentucky State Police determined that the children were living in a torture-like situation, in a room that was locked from the outside with windows blocked with wooden boards.

According to Amber Hunt, the appointed guardian, it appears that one child suffered the worst form of abuse, being horrifically forced to "suck the insulation in the walls in an attempt to get water."

Officials explained that the couple – who forced the children to do arduous labor and punished them in several ways, including depriving them of food – did not do so due to a lack of resources.

Pike County Prosecutor Bill Sloan said that the children were taught to hide the truth from others, and the child who bore the brunt of the abuse was not allowed to go on school trips or eat cake or pizza with classmates.

According to a child rights advocate, due to the traumas and psychological conditions resulting from the ongoing brutal abuse, unfortunately, it is not possible to place the three children in a single home together.

The "ill" couple submitted a blind plea deal after lawyers said that the case details would be too emotionally charged for the jury to overlook. They asked the judge for leniency in the sentencing.

The news source reported that both Hall and Norman were sentenced to the maximum agreed upon – 20 years each on one count of first-degree criminal child mistreatment and five years on each second-degree charge, to be served concurrently for a total of 20 years.
Sloan stated, "Our laws do not allow for cruel and unusual punishment, even for prisoners. Therefore, they will never undergo the type of punishment that these children have endured."

Sloan praised the school staff for speaking up, saying that the outcome would have been much more heartbreaking had they not alerted the authorities.
