Transavia Cancels Some Flights Due to Rising Fuel Costs and Increases Ticket Prices

Khaberni - The low-cost airline "Transavia", part of the "Air France-KLM" group, announced on Sunday that it will cancel some of its flights in May and June due to the rising prices of aircraft fuel caused by the war in the Middle East.

A spokesperson for the company said that the cancelled flights represent about 2% of its schedule.

Transavia explained that it will offer affected customers "free rescheduling, a voucher, or a full refund of their ticket value."

Europe imports half of its kerosene needs from the Gulf countries, but the strategic Strait of Hormuz, through which nearly 20% of the world's oil and gas production passes, has been closed since the joint Israeli-American attack on Iran in late February.

Dan Jørgensen, European Commissioner for Energy, stated that the bloc is rapidly approaching a potential supply crisis, which will lead to rising prices and flight cancellations.

The spokesperson mentioned that Transavia, like other airlines, has increased ticket prices by an average of 10 euros for a round trip.
