Khaberni - The Egyptian government announced the cancellation of the "early closure" order for shops, restaurants, and commercial centers, and the return to the normal working hours that were previously in place.
Mohammed Al-Homsani, the official spokesman for the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, stated that the Central Crisis Management Committee, during its last meeting, approved the cessation of the measure that required the closure of shops at 11 PM, as part of an exceptional package of measures temporarily imposed to rationalize energy consumption.
Since March 28, the government had begun implementing a plan which included reducing the working hours of shops to 9 PM and later extending them to 11 PM, in addition to reducing public lighting, and partially implementing a remote working system on Sundays every week.
The decision coincided with a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, to follow up on the repercussions of regional developments related to military operations and their economic impacts on Egypt and the world, especially concerning energy and trade markets.
During the meeting, the government reviewed its plans to face any potential disturbances, including securing a strategic reserve of essential commodities and fuel, alongside tightening market supervision to control prices and prevent any monopolistic practices, according to the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
The government also discussed the continuation of energy consumption rationalization policies and the reduction of public spending, with an emphasis on expanding solar energy projects as part of the plans to transition towards more sustainable energy sources.
